May I run my bot or irc server
Yes, you may. You can upload, compile, build, run bg processes and use all available programs and resources on the system. Shell is as open as it was earlier (now even with crontab). eggdrop, BNC and other irc servers, bouncers, proxies and non destructive bots are not considered to be malicious.

why BNC does not work on 8080
It was set up to max 100 users, because of heavy abuse. It is working, but you are not among these lucky 100 users.

port 6667 is already taken
There are few thousand irc users that runs some bots, bouncers etc... but the port range is limited. You may choose some port from direct access ports of your host. More on these ports at http://www.polarhome.com/service/ports.html
You can find the list of already taken ports for your host at: http://www.polarhome.com/service/statistics/global/

how to setup system eggdrop
1. Read the documentation at http://www.polarhome.com/service/manual/eggdrop/
   or at /home/e/eggdrop/doc
2. Create/edit one config file
3. Check that ports and bot names are uniqe in eggdrop home dir.
4. Change to /home/e/eggdrop (eggdrop home directory)
5. Start eggdrop with your config file as ./eggdrop -m /home/m/me/my_config.conf

Eventually you may submit a cron job to use modified chkbot as:
*/23 * * * * /home/e/eggdrop/scripts/botchk YOUR_BOT_NAME CONFIG_FILE FILENAME
Example:
*/23 * * * * /home/e/eggdrop/scripts/botchk PolarHOME /home/b/bnc/eggdrop/config.cfg polarhome

What ports I shoud not use
System reserves for system use ports 1-1024, 6666-6669, 8000, 8080. If you found these ports unused, you may use them on your own, but system may take over them in any time.
You may found list of used ports with netstat command or listed on each host's web server under statistics information.
