So I have my own FTP account on Debian domain here at Polarhome. I'm trying to enable some Album Mod to be able to upload small sized pictures from web interface.
I must send some directories to full access, but after I try to chmod those directories I get :
"CHMOD command not implemented"
(it happens both from gFTP and shell ftp client).
What's the prob, Bob? (-:

Debian was recently upgraded to sarge, this is possibly related... Contact support@polarhome.com to report this and get help.

wu-ftpd, even with correct config file could not handle chmod (also it had a very strange behaviour during IPv6 sessions)
vsftpd solved all these problems.

I will sound a little bit off topicish, but what does "wu-ftp" stand for?
I know that "vsftpd" is "Very Secure FTP Daemon".

Wuarchive-ftpd, more affectionately known as WU-FTPD, is a replacement ftp daemon for Unix systems developed at Washington University
wu-ftpd is one of the most configurable ftp daemon.
I like very much possibility to distinguish remote and local users, also the lot of different messages etc.
Unfortuantely, it has lot of bugs. Also has troubles with IPv6 and UIDs above 64k.

vsftpd2 can do the local/remote thingy
and it also supports ssl, bandwidth limits and ipv6.
oh and it takes WAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less ram than wu-ftpd.
personally in my list the best ftp servers are ProFTPD [i just LOVE it], and VSFTPD [fast, light, secure.]
oh and izmaelis, i don't think anyone in the world knows what wu-ftpd stands for.
personally, i can't even pronounce that properly :p
[i just called it 'woohoo-ftpd']
