Somewhere in the web, says:

you need some POP3 or IMAP user authentication before SMTP connection

OK. But I cant configure outlook express to do that. I can receive mail by POP3 (I'm in the Debian server) but I can't send mail. How can I configure Outlook Express to send mail? I use mail.polarhome.com in port 25 for SMTP server.

Thanks.

Just use your ISP's smtp server. Its for the best. I get relay errors on polarhome servers too.. Not worth the effort ... use mail.yourisp.com as your smtp server with no authentication.

This is not needed and it will work...

The weird thing is, that i -never- had that 'relay denied' error..

well.. once on freebsd when it was upgraded from 5.0, but it was only once..

dunno what it is that i'm doing right.. maybe the email servers just like me ^_^

I'm getting this relaying denied error as well. I can only send mail to myself (polarhome address) but not to anyone without a polarhome address. I can send email to anyone using the webmail interface. Anyone know how to fix this? I'd really like to not have to use my isps smtp server.

hi,

polarhome's smtp server uses quite complicate technology to keep polarhome as open as possible, but not allow open relay, spam etc.

1. The most common problems are that user's host doen not have IP resolved in domain resolution.
2. there are some host/networks that are explicitly denied (the list is published at http://www.polarhome.com/hacker/hosts.deny )

I guess that you fall in at least one of these above.
