Well, I've come to the point in which I would have to ask for help...
actually, I've read the instructions over and over and tried to login to my ftp account which I want to test before I get my Solaris shell account with no luck at all.
According to the Instructions, in order for me to gain FTP access I should ftp solaris.polarhome.com:721 (being 72 Solaris Server port and 1 the Ftp service) and as far as I understand to complete the URL command line I should enter:
<a href='ftp://polarhome.com:721/~morisn' target='_blank'>ftp://polarhome.com:721/~morisn</a> or <a href='ftp://www.polarhome.com:721/~morisn' target='_blank'>ftp://www.polarhome.com:721/~morisn</a> and it has not worked.
Same thing if I try solaris.polarhome.com:721 (I dont know if this is unnecessary since solaris is a server accessed through port forwarding.

Well, that does not take me anywhere, does not work from the command line, of course properly edited and does not work by omitting the userid part....
I've fingered my user ID and I can see it listed....Firewall? well, I don't think the problem is at my end because I've tried in two different subnets and at least I'm positive there no firewall restrictions in one of them....so
what am I missing here?
Thanks!

The correct URL for ftp would be; <a href='ftp://ftp.polarhome.com:721' target='_blank'>ftp://ftp.polarhome.com:721</a>
And your webspace is accesible by; <a href='http://www.polarhome.com:723/~morison' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com:723/~morison</a>

so for ex. if you upload 'billy.bob.jr.txt' to your public_html folder, the internet path to it would be <a href='http://www.polarhome.com:723/~morison/billy.bob.jr.txt' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com:723/~morison/billy.bob.jr.txt</a>

:)

Welcome to Polarhome.

Thank you DenisF!
Now, I feel like a baby walking his first steps, lol, I went to that link and was finally prompted for an UID and pwd. When I enter what I remember I used when I registered (never used it though), I get this msg:
An error occurred opening that folder on the FTP server. Make sure you have permissions to access that folder.

Details
200 Type set to A.
502 Illegal PORT command.

Is this a simple logon pwd or could be due to something else? If it's due to a wrong pwd, I'll ask to have it reset....thanks!!

Regards,
Oscar.

Sounds like an error in the FTP client you're using.

Tried switching to passive? [or active, if you're already passive]
or using another client?
