Help!!! FTP problem on mandrake

Postby dejavu » Sat Nov 27, 2004 4:08 am

I can't lon into my ftp account and can't transfer my files to mandrake. I read the articles in the forum about this but they didn't help. I turned the PASS mode off. But still can't connect. I used several ftp programs. (CuteFTP, AceFTP, FlashFXP) But none of them could connect. I think there is a problem with the list command.

Please someone help!!!

I'm posting the AceFTP view;

220 Welcome to Mandrake.Polarhome.com FTP service.
USER XXXXX
331 Please specify the password.
PASS *****
230 Login successful.
Server Type: UNIX (standard)

PWD

TYPE A
200 Switching to ASCII mode.
PORT 160,75,XXX,XX,8,180
200 PORT command successful. Consider using PASV.
LIST
425 Failed to establish connection.
Unable to open data socket
Queue completed in 1:01

What is the reason of this?

I believe you have a problem with a firewall on your side.

Still can't connect

Postby dejavu » Sat Nov 27, 2004 8:12 pm

No, this isn't work on my computer. I still can't connect. I'm not using a firewall program (also the firewall option in winxp is off) I try the same on different computers but the result is identical.

I don't have any idea!!!

Who is your ISP, they may be operating WAN NAT which could cause these problems. Or do you have a router?

hello,
i just registered and i have a similar problem like this one,

all seems to go fine with the ftp login but when i come to "entering passive mode" nothing more happens and the "stop" button is still lighting red,

i'm using gftp on linux and normally the stop button should stop lighting red when the login is finished,

should i specify a login directory?
i've read the documentation but i can't find something about this,

it works with gftp now,
some other guy told me about lftp, it's a console program with a massive manpage but i got it compiled now and have managed to upload a few files so i'm not totally dependent on one program anymore,
:D

well, i've been using kde since 97 but in the beginning of this year i had enough of it so i wiped mandrake off the disc and installed archlinux instead,

now i'm only using gtk apps instead and stay away from qt for awhile,
kasablanca is also another qt app that is ok,

gtk is not much better really but i needed a change and using ion as desktop, it's really stable and never crashes, :D
