Finally figured out what the fsck apache's problem is, it's idiot script kiddies who try to exploit php, fourtunetly the only thing they do is crash the server :roll:

Anyway, it will be down for the next few days.

thanks denisf,
hope it works better now,
i promise that i won't hack it :)

btw, it's not the fastest bandwith in town on your server, maybe it's best to not have any files over 25-50kb on it, text files works great and so does php, maybe you can throw in mod_python on it also,

see ya

Thanks for now hacking it! It's so nice of you!

And about the files, as you know MDK is used as a free hosting server by many people and there is no limit on filesize on polarhome (only total user quota). So unfortunately, there are people with 600KB forum logos in there and there is nothing we can do about it.

yeah, that was my point that if you just have small files it works much better,

Sayings like that make me want to ban entire countries :roll:

As for the rest;
1) I'm doing something much more effective than file size limits - i'm letting users suffer slow bandwidth.
You see, If i limited the file sizes most people would be happy, and the server would become more popular and get more users.
But when i have bearly 96kbit upload, and i have asshats with 600kB forum logos, or 1.1mb flash avatars. the server slows down to a crawl. and loading pages is worse than filesharing on a 300baud modem.
At the end of the day, the users get frustrated with the speed, and leave my server alone :) and without those clowns - the server works fine.
Kind of a passive attack :)
2) python is installed on the system, and shell users have access to it. but python webpages? i think not.
