FTP hosting files! How???

Postby Sky Valkyrie » Wed Mar 09, 2005 10:59 am

Hi all! :)

Uh... well, I'm using an FTP account on Redhat and would like to host some music files.

Can someone please tell me how to host them? I don't know what is the path looks like. :( And, I wonder how the files are to be transferred since it needs your username and password to access the account, and take the files out!

I'm a bit confused! :?

Music files = mp3 files right?

Sorry you can't host these here, polarhome's bandwidth will not be able to handle them.

If you want to try read this to understand how to access it:

From the home page at http://www.polarhome.com
What this system can not offer?
<..snipped..>
- Host for SETI@home and such CPU eating projects
- mp3 and other multimedia media file distribution
- media broadcast services

P.S. just noticed afonic posted the same info.
Look for OpenVMS help on my webpage
Check for QOTD here.

Sorry. I don't think I have said it accurately.

I don't mean to distribute or something, but I just want to make it like... The BGM of a site when you visit there. That's all.

I know this can be done because I have SEEN people doing this before!

hi,

it is not forbidden to have media files on your account and to download them for your own purpose, but it is absolutelly forbidden to distibute, broadcast or use polarhome as proxy.

Not because we (polarhome) are rude and dry people who do not like music, but polarhome simply does not have enough bandwidth to serve such sites.

I would be the happyest here, if polarhome would be able to serve such request...

From other side there are avaible sites that offer unlimited bandwidt and few G space for peanuts.
Use those instead.
Regards,
Z

Nevermind then.

Thanks for your words. But I will still be using Polarhome for some other purposes. So I have no reason to leave! :|
