hmm.. you're right.. it doesn't resolve. but there must be a mx-record for it (i know that it works, i registered the forum account with it and recieved the "welcome"-message)

i understand this is a problem. if you don't accept such hostnames... well, bad luck for me ;)

I think the case is not us not accepting subdomain-like emails, just your email is NOT VALID.

I am not sure what trick it uses to work, but I am sure that http://scientist.com/ doesn't offer such emails, does it? Also it doesn't resolve, which means it's not a real email.

I can send you a Gmail invite if you want.

mail.com offers them... the mail IS valid and working.

i didn't mean you don't accept subdomain-like emails, but subdomains without a CNAME which do not resolve for pings. an mx-record for smtp messages is present though (checked it with nslookup now)... so mails get delivered correctly.

uhm.. ok, i dont know how dns works in detail. maybe i'm talking rubbish

i just assume this won't work... i'll go find another one to sign up ;) sorry for the trouble...

btw. afonic, i tried out gmail.. their automatic filters are too tight. spam hardly gets through, but i experienced non-spam messages getting deleted before they even reach the spam folder. i'm afraid i will lose something important eventually..

Its ridiculous having MX records but not CNAME/A records.

Unfortunately, we use a standard PHP based e-mail check, that almost everybody does and it works in 99.99 cases. I do not plan to change that piece of code, because I do not have anything better.

What can you do:
1. register with some another e-mail
2. register with yourname@yahoo.com and change the finger information with usermin late on.
Regards,
Z
