I want to get a shell account but I don´t know what system I want.

As the topic states I am new to this, well not really, I just forgot everything. Are any of the systems easier then the others?
I also want to run eggdrop.

Hi,
Everyone has their favorite, but most of the systems here are basicly the same with the exception of the OpenVMS systems. OpenVMS is quite a bit different then Unix. I personally like AIX and SuSE(being the admin). In my opinion redhat is too crowded(69,620 users). Debian is also a nice OS, although I have not used the Polarhome debian server.
As for Eggdrop, most systems have system eggdrop installed. I installed it on suse several weeks ago.

With UNIX, if you're looking for something, you can easily and quickly check that small manual and find out it's not there. With VMS, no matter what you look for - it's literally a five-foot shelf of documentation - if you look long enough it's there. That's the difference - the beauty of UNIX is that it's simple; and the beauty of VMS is that it's all there.

That is one cool (and true) quote. :D I had never read that before.
