FUSE & SSHFS on redhat.polarhome.com ?

Postby rawfish-redhat » Thu Jun 08, 2006 1:49 pm

First of all let me thank you for the gorgeous service!
I've been using it in the last couple of month and it's great to be able to have such freedom and variety of services on a free service!

As a suggestion: to grant users even additional flexibility, would it be possible to install FUSE and SSHFS on the Fedora 5 system? They should be readily available in the "Extras" repo of yum and installable very easily in just a few minutes.

Thanks in advance!

hi,

I installed fuse on both redhat and debain servers.
... and sshfs on debian.

It is not enabled by default - just group of users is allowed. If somebody wants to use this service needs to send a mail to support@polarhome.com - and of course, user needs to have shell access to the hosts.

Enjoy.

Please, be carefull what do you mount - any abuse will have serious consequences.
Regards,
Z

Thanks a lot! That's actually great!
I'm becoming addicted to my Polarhome shell! ;-)

Hope I'm not bugging too much, but may I suggest fuse-devel (yum install fuse-devel) and the Fuse Perl definitions (cpan install Fuse)? Developer's heaven ;-)

Thanks again for the great service and for the sense of community you're able to create!
