Experiencing an error on Redhat !!

Postby z0_redhat » Thu Oct 26, 2006 5:24 pm

Hi everyone,

I'm getting this "file or directory doesnt exist" (./eggdrop: error while loading shared libraries: libdns.so.21: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory), whenever I try to load eggdrop.

I'm pretty sure server admins understand it and so I'm not gonna explain it further. Thought I bring it to you attention.

Waited for over a week now, was hoping someone would find out about it but then here I am, so hopefully someone takes a look into it.

Thanks again :)
Best regards,
Greg

Yes indeed, it looks as though that shared object has been revised to version 22. (IE, filename increment).

If you recompile your eggdrop you will pick up the new object file, and it will continue to work no problem. DO NOT delete your old eggdrop conf/scripts etc.

(I have just tested this.)

If you are using the system wide installation of eggdrop then Zoli will need to update it, or provide access for me to do it.

Whatever you do, take a back up first.

hi,

system eggdrop has been recompiled and deployed.
This should solve the problem.

hi

you need to build from configure stage.

Otherwise it is recommended to build monolit, static linked executable, because redhat server is daily updated and there is no explicit control on library names back compatibility.

Fixed, copy your conf, and other files into the eggdrop directory and it will work fine.

It isn't static as that didn't look straight forward but it should be fine now.

Give it a go :)
