I have compiled a psyBNC, but i cannot start it, it says:

Configuration File: bnc.conf
Language File: psyBNC Language File - English
No logfile specified, logging to log/psybnc.log
Cannot create listening port .. aborting

config file contains:
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.PORT1=9431
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.HOST1=redhat.polarhome.com
PSYBNC.HOSTALLOWS.ENTRY0=*;*

I have tried various ports, but why i'm unable to crate listening port. My shell is running on redhat, so direct access ports are 5000-9999. So, wat is wrong with this?

Thank you.
Vron

Try to change HOST1 to 192.168.10.5

Might do it, not sure.

PSYBNC.SYSTEM.HOST1=*

I am using this setting, and everything is fine.

BTW try using menuconfig for configuration its more confortable.

i used PSYBNC.SYSTEM.HOST1=* earlier but it didn't work, so why i tried to change it to redhat.polarhome.com. I haven't tried to use 192.168.10.5, because redhat is down at a time. But i don't think it will help. I have tried using meniu config also, but i got the same result. There is something wrong with those ports.

How to do that? I tried tu telnet to those ports and i got message that "connection refused". So, i think the port is free.
Can you show yours psybnc config. I do not understand what is wrong here, why it is impossible to create listening port. (I tried with eggdrop and it could create a port.)

Could you write a full command to check if port is in use, because i don't know linux well.
Thanx.

It isn't linux command ;) . Go to www.polarhome.com. In the left is "service" menu. Click statistics. Then select your host and "used ports net-stat" from another dropdown box. Then use your browsers search to find unused ports. ;)

BTW maybe there is linux command, but I don't know it.

It is possible to get that list in the shell, when you type "netstat". I think, that port i am using is free, bet still i get that damn error.
Any ideas?

Vron's problem was that he was using a very old build of psyBNC.

all i had to do is compile the latest and greatest, and it worked out fine.

id'e suggest you do the same :)
