hi, i uploaded all the files for my invision power board forum, i went to the sm_install.php page and everything was fine. i then entered all the information and this error came up:

Warning: Access denied for user: 'bash@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/b/bash/public_html/cgi-bin/ipb/sm_install.php on line 342

Warning: MySQL Connection Failed: Access denied for user: 'bash@localhost' (Using password: YES) in /home/b/bash/public_html/cgi-bin/ipb/sm_install.php on line 342

the same thing happened when i tried to install postnuke. any ideas? and btw, yes, i did use my mysql password..

Can you log-in to phpMyAdmin?
If not mail mysql@polarhome.com and ask for a new one.

Edit: I didn't see the "yes, i did use my mysql password.." phrase. I must quit drinking...

Maybe wrong username, a wrong character, up case, low case or something like that?

If nothing works use the email I gave you...

If he can login via phpmyadmin and can't install <insert software name here> properly, he shouldn't email mysql@polarhome, that will do no good.

[as mysql is working properly, proof=u can connect via phpmyadmin]

conicheva.
:P ,probably your php has a wrong config.
if your install page fails, do it manually. on phpmyadmin.
check all the small details

So you put your forum in cgi-bin
See your error page. . .
/home/b/bash/public_html/cgi-bin/ipb/sm_install.php on line 342

invision is written in PHP :P NOT perl, C, TCL
Just put it in /public_html directory and see what happens.
:D

That's why I said you should ask for a new username/password. I had the same problem in Redhat and a new MySQL username solved it.
