@DenisF ( Israel )
Israel Independence Day is celebrated annually on 5 Iyar,
the anniversary of the establishment of the State of Israel (May 14, 1948).
The day preceding this celebration is devoted to the memory of those who gave their
lives for the achievement of the country's independence and its continued existence.

@Questutis ( Lithuania )
February 16 is and always will be a significant and meaningful date for Lithuanians …
it is on this day in 1918 that Lithuania declared its independence
from czarist Russia. For decades, Lithuanian have been commemorating
this event, during Lithuania’s independence, oppression, and subsequent independence.
In the wake of Lithuania re-declaring its sovereignty March 11, 1990.

@Afonic ( Greece )
After nearly 400 years of rule by the Ottomans, Greece declared its independence on March 25, 1821.
Long before that, ancient Athenians created a Greek culture that valued human
liberty and dignity, and modern Greeks have demonstrated that preserving freedom
is a powerful motivating force. Today, on Greek Independence Day, we recognize the
ancient Greek influence in framing our own Constitution and celebrate the Greek-American
heritage that continues to strengthen our communities and enrich our society.

Matej ( Slovenia )
It is believed that the Slavic ancestors of the present-day Slovenians settled in the area
in the 6th century. In the 7th century the Slavic Duchy of Carantania, the first
Slovenian and first stable Slavic state, was formed. In 745, Karantania lost its
independence and became to all intents and purposes a part of the Frankish empire.
Many Slavs gradually became converted to Christianity.
Present-day Slovenia was formed on 25 June 1991 upon its independence from the Yugoslavia.

@Alpha ( Brazil )
Dom Pedro I established the independent Empire of Brazil from Portugal.
This lasted until the next emperor, Dom Pedro II was deposed in 1889 and a republican
based federation was established.
In the late 19th and early 20th centuries, Brazil attracted over 5 million European
and Asian immigrants.

@Zoli ( Sweden )
National day, 6 June. Couldn't find more details about Sweden.

@Sjaz ( ? )
Came from outer space. . .
You can see his picture on avator. :lol:

:P :P Now we have a little history background. :P :P

Somebody did his homework!
Have a nice independence day all of you.

Actually here in Greece it's a "national celebration" and not independence day as we call it and there is another one, which is at 28th October and we celebrate the win of the Greek troops at October 1940 against the Italians, which was the first victory of an army that was against the Nazi forces since the start of the war. Later we where captured by Germany, and then got out freedom again after the Americans came for help!

sjaz is from Scotland, so they have no independence day yet! I hope you get one though!

@Sjaz fellow from now your title is * King of the Universe * looks better :D
Scotland is a small, North European country of around 79,000 square kilometres. There are just over 5 million Scots. Scotland has own devolved parliament based in the capital, Edinburgh, and our own distinct culture.
I believe Scotland as a Country, not a part of UK. Time will make you a sudden independent. :) :) :)

I hereby give you the award for the.. uh.. longest post ever made on polarhome forums.. lol

thank you, thank you, dear freshmen do not give up, some day you can make to this honoggoble title. This inspires me to post even longer. . .
hehehehehe crazy me.

Thanks for the wishes. :)
As jagar wrote we've just had our "independence day" a couple of weeks ago and that was also the end of classes for this year (thank god). So I'm enjoying my holydays at the moment. From now on you'll see me more often here.

Happy holydays to you all. Enjoy. :ineedabeer:
