hey ppl,
I have a redhat account and I registered a free .uni.cc domain. (it acts like a real domain); But I need to setup the DNS to get it working.
It asks me for :

NS (For external name servers)

ns1:
ns2:

OR

"A" and "MX" (at UNI.CC' DNS)

Main server IP address:
Mailserver name:

The problem is that i don't know the polarhome.com:793 nameservers or the main server IP (or mailserver). I tried doing a DNS query but I don't really understand the info i got there.

Any help?

Ta

AFAIK you cannot use Polarhome for domain hosting. Try putting a page somewhere that will redirect to polarhome, or get a .tk domain from www.dot.tk.

PS. Nice signature!

afonic is right, you would be better with a www.tk domain name.

You can setup your uni.cc for web formarding that will probably work with polarhome:

In the Domain Control Panel select "Change domain settings".
The Domain Setup page opens (http://www.uni.cc/site/dcp_dconfig.php).
In the "Choose a service" part select: "Web Forwarding" and click "Contune". Now you'll get some Web Forwarding settings on your Domain Control Panel.

Change the "Real addres:" to your polarhome page adress (don't forget the fort port) try if it works.

ok, I'll drop the .uni.cc for now.

I went to dot.tk and found an available domain so I went on with the free registraion. Another problem..... they are asking me for my full URL.

which is <a href='http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass/' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass/</a>

I enter that, then ERROR....

URL Entered : <a href='http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass/' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass/</a>

I tried: <a href='http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com:793/~dirmass</a>
<a href='http://www.polarhome.com/~dirmass' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com/~dirmass</a>
<a href='http://www.polarhome.com/~dirmass/' target='_blank'>http://www.polarhome.com/~dirmass/</a>

still nothing.... Is this normal?

//EDIT.

It seems that the URL you provided does not exist or is by itself already a redirected URL, which cannot be redirected again by Dot TK. Please choose another URL.

I entered the .uni.cc web forward address and it works.

HOW STUPID IS .TK??

and for half an hour I've been trying to make an account but it wont let me register because it seems that:

Your name and address

The address provided does not pass our verification system.
Your entire address, phone number, email address and password are mandatory to register your Dot TK domain name. Therefore, all these fields need to be filled out before you proceed. If you think is an error, please visit the Dot TK support page.

I entered ALL my contact info including phone and fax no. address and zip code......

Is there something wron with it????

I tried www.tk, and got the same problem with my address. I'm tempted to enter bogus addresses until I find one that works

Well there was some post about this problem some time before but I can't seem to be able to find it. Is the forum removing old posts?

Anyway a way would be to open somewhere an account (even a free hosting account with ads and 10MB/day bandwidth) and put there a page that redirects to Polarhome. That should work!

Unfortunately I can't remember what we talked about in the other post, my memory is good enough to remember that it exists but not the whole discussion!

EDIT:
@dirmass_redhat: What domain did you tried to register?

Actually this is a well-known problem.

And I had some discussions with the .tk crew a long while ago about it.
for a certain amount of time, they enabled registrations for 'polarhome-like' sites, but that proved to be too problematic, so they disabled it again.

www.codespot.tk

I tried again today but it said sumeone registered it. So I did a Whois and it showed me that the domain was either canceled or available. I click on continue but it redirects me to the original page. It's a neverending loop...

Well most free hosting services would not allow this, they want fully functional websites hosted. I guess I could find a real 'crappy' free host and make a page there. But search engines don't like redirected index pages. And the URL will still be messy...

Are there any other free services like dot.tk rather than to.do or uni.cc ?

//EDIT.

Btw. Who was the sneaky fella who deleted my signature  :kwasny:

Try galcomm.com, they're now offering upto 25 free .info domains for a year [like domainsite.com used to].

and it was me, signatures that big are unnecessary :) keep it simple

you can also use a non tk domain
, like yoursite.eu.tp or many others ending in tp.

Try tipdots.com and get a free domain name. It works on my polarhome site...

you can use or not advertising, it's up to you.

I personally don't.
