PsyBnc 2.3.2-7 not starting on suse.polarhome.com

Postby Farrukh » Tue Mar 07, 2006 6:51 am

Hi guys,
i have tried to search the forum but could not get the same problem listed here on suse.polarhome.com, could anybody suggest me what i am doing wrong ? below is the msg i am getting after ./psybnc:

Code: Select all
Command history
> cd psybnc
> ./psybnc
.-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-.
 ,----.,----.,-.  ,-.,---.,--. ,-.,----.
 |  O ||  ,-' \ \/ / | o ||   \| || ,--'
 |  _/ _\  \   \  /  | o< | |\   || |__
 |_|  |____/   |__|  |___||_|  \_| \___|
      Version 2.3.2-7 (c) 1999-2003
              the most psychoid
      and  the cool lam3rz Group IRCnet

`-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=tCl=-'
Configuration File: psybnc.conf
Language File: psyBNC Language File - English
No logfile specified, logging to log/psybnc.log
Cannot create listening port .. aborting

My PsyBnc.conf is:

Code: Select all
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.PORT1=33647
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.HOST1=suse.polarhome.com
PSYBNC.HOSTALLOWS.ENTRY0=*;*

btw, i have tried to put port above 50000 also, as described in the port forwarding guide, and host1=* also, still the same, the reason i put this port (33647), if you go to statistics page and see used ports, u will see ports being used in this range, please advise me if i am doing something wrong. Thanks.

Change suse.polarhome.com to 127.0.0.1 to see if that helps.

I'm sure the suse admin will look into it and report back here with what he believes the problem to be.

Can you try port as defined in port forwarding guide with a host of 65.5.251.121?

Hi,

Thanks to Suse Admin I was able to use a shell on there to compile and use psybnc.

Here:

PSYBNC.SYSTEM.PORT1=52222
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.ME=sjaz
PSYBNC.SYSTEM.HOST1=*
PSYBNC.HOSTALLOWS.ENTRY0=195.*;127.0.0.1
USER1.USER.NICK=sjaz
USER1.USER.USER=sjaz
USER1.USER.PASS=='$0C`N'D150m`L0k't1D`r1Lga'I`h0n'L0g`h`H0o'````V'F0C120E'I0T`0`@
USER1.USER.RIGHTS=1
USER1.USER.LOGIN=sjaz
USER1.SERVERS.SERVER1=irc.undernet.net
USER1.SERVERS.PORT1=6667

I believe this is the correct configuration as I am able to connect and use BNC.

Thanks again Dillon, and Zoli.

Zoli is really the one to think, but whatever.
Anyway, I just want to say sorry for my lack of knowledge on PsyBNC.

Problem is fixed, was due to a bad option in the make menuconfig which was preventing a piece of src from compiling properly.

rm -rf'd dir and redid, now works.

Please read your PM.
