El cantante Julián Conrado fue detenido el 31 de mayo 2011 por fuerzas represivas combinadas de Colombia y Venezuela en territorio venezolano. El gobierno colombiano lo persigue con saña porque Julián Conrado con sus canciones lleva un mensaje de justicia social a un pueblo empobrecido, subyugado y agredido por bandas paramilitares al margen de la ley. Las autoridades colombianas pretenden obtener otra entrega ilegal de un perseguido político por parte de Venezuela. La Convención de Ginebra y la Convención Contra la Tortura impiden entregarlo a Colombia y ampara el asilo para el perseguido político, quién además está enfermo. Un hombre viejo y enfermo, apresado cuando buscaba ayuda médica no puede ser entregado a sus persecutores. En las cárceles colombianas fallecen con inusitada frecuencia los presos políticos por torturas, negación de asistencia médica y tratos humillantes y degradantes.

Singer Julián Conrado was arrested in Venezuelan territory on May 31, 2011 by combined repressive forces of Colombia and Venezuela.. The Colombian government pursues him viciously because Julián Conrado's songs convey a message of social justice to an impoverished, subjugated and persecuted people by outlawed paramilitary forces. The Colombian authorities are requesting to the government of Venezuela the illegal extradition of a singer politically persecuted. The Geneva Convention and the Convention Against Torture prohibit Venezuela to extradite Julián Conrado to Colombia under the universal right of asylum to people persecuted by political reasons. Singer Julián Conrado is an old man, seriously sick, who was arrested when he was seeking medical help. A sick old man, arrested when he was seeking medical help cannot be delivered to their persecutors. In Colombian jails many political prisoners die with unusual frequency due to tortures, denial of medical care, humiliating and degrading treatment.
Petition:
We, the undersigned, call on the Government of Venezuela and Colombia to put aside their domestic differences and agree to free immediately singer Julian Conrado and the Universal Right of Political Asylum be respected and granted to the old and sick singer.

There is no honor or compassion on Earth if Julian Conrado is handed over to his executioners.


Nosotros, los abajo firmantes, pedimos al Gobierno de Venezuela y Colombia que pongan a un lado sus diferencias internas y acuerden liberar inmediatamente al cantante Julián Conrado y el Derecho Universal de Asilo Político sea respetado y concedido al viejo y enfermo cantante.

No existe honor ni compasión sobre la Tierra si se entrega Julián Conrado a sus verdugos.
