Subject: Pertolongan Internasional untuk korban Tsunami di Aceh
Australian Defence Force helping tsunami victims in Sumatra
The Minister for Defence, Senator Robert Hill, announced on 27 December
2004 the participation of the Australian Defence Force in international
humanitarian relief operations for the 26 December 2004 Indian Ocean
tsunami.
The Australian Defence Force (ADF) contribution to humanitarian relief
operations following the Indian Ocean tsunami continues to increase with
personnel, equipment and supplies now being moved into affected areas.
As part of the Australian Government's national response, the ADF
continues to work with Indonesian authorities in particular, to bring help
to
the people of Sumatra (Operation Sumatra Assist).
While a number of nations have been affected by the devastating tsunami,
through international agreement, Australia is focusing its initial effort on
providing assistance in Sumatra.
Since the Minister for Defence, Senator Robert Hill, announced the
contribution of four C-130 Hercules transport aircraft last week, the ADF
contribution has continued to build up.
In addition to the Australian contribution, the New Zealand Government has
supplied a Royal New Zealand Air Force C-130, which has been added to the
four
Australian aircraft. All are working with Indonesian authorities as part of
