TERSANGKA KASUS PENEMBAKAN "MILE 63" DIMINTAI KETERANGAN
Jayapura (ANTARA News) - Delapan dari 14 orang tersangka kasus penembakan di 
Mile 63, Tembapura, Papua, pada 31 Agustus 2002, saat ini mulai dimintai 
keterangannya secara intensif oleh tim penyidik Reskrim Mapolda Papua.

Beberapa saat setelah mendekam di ruang tahanan Mapolda Papua, ke delapan 
tersangka yang dibawa ke Jayapura dengan menggunakan pesawat Garuda dari 
Timika itu diperiksa kesehatannya oleh tim kesehatan yang dipimpin Kepala 
Kedokteran dan Kesehatan (Ka Dokkes) Polda Papua, Kombes Wahid.

Ka Dokkes, Kombes Wahid kepada ANTARA di Jayapura, Kamis mengakui, dari 
hasil pemeriksaan sementara para tersangka itu berada dalam keadaan sehat, 
kalaupun ada yang sakit hanya flu ringan.

Setelah pemeriksaan kesehatan, mereka digiring menuju ke reskrim Polda Papua 
yang berjarak sekitar 50 meter dari ruang tahanan Mapolda.

Kasus penembakan yang terjadi di ruas jalan Timika-Tembagapura itu 
menyebabkan tiga warga sipil tewas, dua di antaranya adalah warga Amerika 
Serikat.

Kapolda Papua Papua, Irjen Pol Tonny Yacobus mengatakan, rencana penangkapan 
terhadap para tersangka sudah beberapa kali mengalami kegagalan dan baru 
Rabu malam (11/1) sekitar pukul 23.00 WIT berhasil menangkap mereka di 
sekitar kawasan Kwamki Lama, Timika.

"Penangkapan itu melibatkan tim penyidik dari FBI sesuai dengan kesepakatan 
antara kedua negara (RI-AS), namun kegiatan di lapangan dilakukan oleh 
aparat keamanan kita sendiri," ungkap Irjen Pol Tonny Yacobus.

Diakuinya, saat ini tim penyidik baru akan melakukan pemeriksaan terhadap 
para tersangka.

Sementara itu Ketua Tim Advokasi kasus Timika, Allosius Renwarin secara 
terpisah mengatakan kepada ANTARA, tim tersebut mendampingi para tersangka 
yang sedang diperiksa tim penyidik Mapolda Papua.

"Mereka diperiksa mulai pukul 16.30 WIT, dikaitkan dengan pelanggaran hukum 
sesuai pasal 340, pasal 338 dan pasal 351 KUHP," ungkapnya seraya 
menambahkan belum dapat memastikan pemeriksaan itu akan berlangsung selama 
berapa jam.
