So it helps to put the numbers in your favor as much as possible -- to have a lot of tickets in the lottery, so to speak.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font color="#000000">So prospect generators run a lot of properties through the mill. They look at a lot, winnow that down to a manageable number that they can appropriately analyze, and then joint-venture those out to another company to do the more-costly work of drilling and, hopefully, resource definition.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font color="#000000">Then they do it again. And again. Because if you're both good and lucky, you might have to drill 100 properties to find one that ends up being a meaningful mine. So you'd better have someone else pay for the drilling, because you'll never be able to fund it all.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font color="#000000">Typically, a prospect generator will retain a 20% to 30% interest in the project, with the joint venture partner paying all costs through to a bankable feasibility study. The logic here is that 30% of a major mine is still a huge winner for a junior company.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font color="#000000">I'm a big proponent of the prospect generator business model, but I'm not a purist on it. The key is good management, because some operators don't use this model so much to increase the odds of success, but to guarantee their employment over the long term.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font face="Arial" size="2">3 prospect generators I like (see below) are <strong>Millrock Resources (TSX.V: MRO), Almaden Resources (TSX: AMM, Amex: AAU), and Tarsis Resources (TSX.V: TCC).</strong> They each have proven management teams and solid business strategies.</font></span></span></div>

<div><span style="font-size: 20px;"><span style="font-size: 12px;"><font color="#000000">Additionally, I believe that companies should be willing to ease up on this strategy if a prospect seems worthy of keeping in the fold. Two former die-hard joint venturers -- Almaden and Kaminak Gold -- decided to break ranks and drill particularly exciting properties, and scored big hits as a result.</font></span></span></div>
