Singaporean travel agencies offer cut-rate Bali packages


JAKARTA (JP): A number of travel bureaus in Singapore have arranged cut-rate 
Bali holiday packages following the deadly bombing in the resort island last 
month, Antara reported.

Bali Tourism Office head I Gde Pitana said the packages, with discounts of 
up to 60 percent, were valid for two weeks, from Nov. 20 to Dec. 4.

Pitana was commenting after a meeting with 18 travel agencies and three 
airline companies from Singapore.

The packages would cost a visitor from Singapore S$250, far below normal 
rate of$600. It includes hotel accommodation, food and beverages in hotel 
restaurants, and transportation to touristattractions on the island.

The number of Singaporean tourists to Bali increased from 17,370 in 2,000 to 
18,925 in 2001. The figure decreased by 30 percent following the Bali 
blasts.
