[Postgres-list] Large Table

Hi All,
I am facing the following problem:
I have a table which records the Bit Rate of different
Policies allotted to Customers. The main fields are
Customer ID, Policy ID and the timestamp. A record is
inserted per Customer's Policy every 15 seconds. This
results in the number of records in the table being
stretched to approx. 7 lakhs per day.
Reports are made on the data using
JFreeCharts/Ce-wolf.
If a Report on Aggregate Bit Rate is required, the
Query to do so has to has in addition to fetching the
records, do some processing by calculating the moving
averages. This considerably slows the output and
sometimes the Graph fails to appear at all.
Please guide on the optimum usage of Indexes or any
other approach.
Thanks in advance,
Ashvinder
