ff(1M)ff(1M)NAMEff - list file names and statistics for a file system
SYNOPSIS
FStype] specific_options] special ...
DESCRIPTION
The command reads the i-list and directories of each special file,
assuming it to be a file system, saving i-node data for files that
match the selection criteria. Output consists of the path name for
each saved i-node, plus any other file information requested with the
option. Output fields are positional. The output is produced in i-
node order; fields are separated by tabs. The default line produced by
includes the path name and i-number fields.
Options and Arguments
recognizes the following options and arguments:
Specify the file system type on which to operate (see
fstyp(1M) and fs_wrapper(5)). If this option is
not included on the command line, then the file
system type is determined from the file by match‐
ing each special with an entry in that file. If
there is no entry in then the file system type is
determined from the file
Specify options specific to each file system type.
specific_options is a list of suboptions and/or
keyword/attribute pairs intended for a specific
FStype-specific module of the command. See the
file-system-specific man pages for a description
of the specific_options supported, if any.
Echo the completed command line, but perform no other action.
The command line is generated by incorporating
the user-specified options and other information
derived from This option allows the user to ver‐
ify the command line.
EXAMPLES
List the path names and i-numbers of all files in the file system
Execute the command on HFS file system
Display a completed command line without executing the command:
FILES
