ifdown(8) Networking ifdown(8)NAMEifdown - Stops a network interface.
SYNTAXifdown device
DESCRIPTION
This program stops a network interface. It is called from the system
"network" init script or may be called directly. It uses configuration
files located in /etc/sysconfig/network-scripts.
OPTIONS
There is only one option.
device
Name of the network device. This is a required option. Exam‐
ples are eth0, usb0, eth0:2, lo, ppp1.
FILES
/etc/sysconfig/network-scripts/*
ENVIRONMENT VARIABLES
All environment variables are set in the config files.
EXAMPLES
To run this program the standard way type:
ifdown eth0
