MONITOR(1) BSD General Commands Manual MONITOR(1) NAME monitor — File and directory monitoring utility SYNOPSIS monitor [-qvx] file ... DESCRIPTION The monitor utility monitors one or more files or directories and outputs the appropriate file name to stdout whenever a change occurs. Supported options are as follows: -q Be more quiet. Specifying this option will cause only the file paths to be output. -v Be more verbose. -x Exit after first hit. monitor will exit after reporting the first event.
