NAME
msgfmt - create a message object from a message file
SYNOPSIS
msgfmt [option] filename.po
DESCRIPTION
The msgfmt command generates message object file(s) from the supplied
portable object file. The message object file(s) are subsequently
placed in appropriate directories and used for message translation by
the gettext command and function set.
OPTIONS
There are a number of options that can be specified with this command.
Type msgfmt -h to display their meaning.
IMPLEMENTATION NOTES
This command is implemented by the GNU gettext package. This is not
supplied with SCL but can be downloaded from GNU distribution sites or
obtained from the Freeware Source CD that is supplied with Tru64 UNIX.
For detailed information on the use of msgfmt (and related commands)
and the format and content of Portable Object files refer to the online
documentation using the info command once GNU gettext has been
installed.
