NAME
prmagt - HP PRM SNMP read-only agent

SYNOPSIS
       seconds]

DESCRIPTION
If the	/etc/rc.config.d/prm parameter PRM_SNMPAGT is set to 1, starts
at boot time as part of the PRM step of multi-user bring up. When run‐
ning, it allows SNMP-aware products anywhere in your system to collect
PRM configuration information and usage statistics. Information is
updated	once per interval (60 seconds by default), or whenever a major
       configuration change takes place.

You can also start or stop the agent by hand. Only one copy of the
agent will run at any given time. When run from an interactive shell,
the agent puts itself into the background and makes itself a daemon.
The agent must be run by root.

Using this agent, PRM is able to integrate with a wide range of system
management software, including HP OpenView Network Node Manager. For
example, if OpenView has been installed on your system, you can list
all current PRM data as follows:

       /opt/OV/bin/snmpwalk <machine> hp.hpSysMgt.hpUXSysMgt.hpPRM.prmReadOnly

The MIB file describing the data available via SNMP can be found as a
text file in When this file is loaded by an interface, one can use the
text addressing scheme in the above example. However, interfaces that
have not read	this MIB can still access the PRM data via the numeric
       SNMP address

COMMAND AVAILABILITY
Only root users can execute commands.

The command is available only on HP 9000 systems.

OPTIONS
Running without options is the default. If there is not a daemon cur‐
rently running, a new one is started.

       Display version information and exit.

Lock the agent into physical memory. This option is only desirable
for systems up to and including HP-UX 11.0, where the
remote user wishes to use statistics as a real-time
indicator of when a system is paging so that the admin‐
istrator can take corrective action. If the memory is
not locked down, then paging activities will cause sig‐
nificant delays, and the remote data collector will get
		       only timeout messages.

Shut down the currently running agent (if any).

Specify	how often to sample CPU and disk bandwidth resource informa‐
       tion.
The seconds value must be an integer between 1 and The
default for this interval is 60 seconds.

Memory information is	sampled every	memory manager
interval, as set by The default for this interval is 30
		       seconds.

WARNINGS
Secure sites may want to disable to avoid unwanted information
exchange. If is to be used, it is strongly recommended that it be used
only on a trusted internal network protected by firewalls and access
controls, due to known issues with the SNMP protocol.
