prmloadconf(1)prmloadconf(1)NAMEprmloadconf - create a PRM configuration file or update an existing
configuration file
SYNOPSIS
configfile]
DESCRIPTION
is a utility that creates or updates a PRM configuration file.
When no option is specified, uses as the configuration file. Use the
option to specify a different configuration file name.
Creating a new configuration file
If the configuration file does not exist, creates a PRM configuration
file by loading the following items into a file:
A PRM group record for group OTHERS, with PRMID = 1 and
shares = 100
A PRM user record for each user specified in the file. Root
users are assigned to the group PRM_SYS. For each nonroot user,
instead of placing the user in a PRM group, a record is created
using the placeholder The typical PRM placement rules then apply
to the processes owned by the given user. For information on
these placement rules, see the prmconf(4) manpage.
On HP-UX 11i v2 (B.11.23) and later, a PRM compartment record
for each active secure compartment. Instead of mapping the com‐
partment to a PRM group, each record uses the placeholder (You
create secure compartments using the HP-UX feature Security Con‐
tainment. You can also create secure compartment configurations
using a PRM utility such as or
A PRM Unix group record for each Unix group defined on the sys‐
tem. Instead of mapping the Unix group to a PRM group, each
record uses the placeholder
Updating an existing configuration file
If the configuration file already exists, checks the syntax of the
file, similar to the option. It also checks:
· The list of users in the current PRM configuration file
against the users specified in
· The list of secure compartments in the current PRM configura‐
tion file against the secure compartments active on the system
It then updates the configuration file by appending a:
· PRM user record for each user that was not previously speci‐
fied (If a user login name appears as part of a netgroup spec‐
ified in an existing user record, no separate record is gener‐
ated for that user.)
· PRM compartment record for each active secure compartment that
was not previously specified
· PRM Unix group record for each Unix group defined on the sys‐
tem that was not previously specified
Format of added user records
When adds a user record to a configuration file, the new user record
specifies the user name as given in The initial group for the user is
set to the placeholder
An example of the format is shown below.
Format of added compartment records
When adds a compartment record to a configuration file, the new com‐
partment record uses the placeholder instead of mapping the compartment
to a PRM group. That is, these records simply make it explicit that the
compartment is not mapped to a PRM group. An example of the format is
shown below.
Format of added Unix group records
When adds a Unix group record to a configuration file, the new Unix
group record uses the placeholder instead of mapping the Unix group to
a PRM group. That is, these records simply make it explicit that the
Unix group is not mapped to a PRM group. An example of the format is
shown below.
