siad_chk_user(3)					      siad_chk_user(3)

NAME
       siad_chk_user - check user dependent routine for SIA (Security Integra‐
       tion Architecture)

SYNOPSIS
       #include <sia.h> #include <siad.h>

       int siad_chk_user(
	       char *loginname,
	       int chkflg );

LIBRARY
       Standard C library - libc.so and libc.a

PARAMETERS
       The loginname parameter specifies the login name of the user. This
       parameter is read only. The chkflg parameter indicates which change
       request is being made. See CHGFINGER, CHGPASSWD, CHGSHELL, CHGENTITY,
       and CHGNEWVALUE in siad.h for more information.

DESCRIPTION
   siad_chk_user()
       This routine is called by the SIA change information interfaces to
       determine if a particular mechanism can change the specified users
       password, finger, or shell.

RETURN VALUES
       The siad_chk_user() routine returns a bitmapped value which indicate
       the following status: Indicates unconditional success. All bits set to
       0. Indicates conditional failure. Lowest bit set to 1. If other secu‐
       rity mechanism are in place, continue. Indicates unconditional fail‐
       ure. Do not continue. Second lowest bit set to 1.

ERRORS
       The errno values are those returned from the dynamic loader interface,
       from the (siad_*) routines, or from malloc. Possible errors include
       resource constraints (no memory) and various authentication failures.

FILES
       /etc/passwd
