NAME
swm list - List software on a system or from a depot

SYNOPSIS
       attribute] software_file] list_level] output_mode]	output_format]
	      source]...] option_file] [[software_selections]...]

NOTE
The list and install major modes are not supported in	this release.
Options, modes and behavior will change in future versions. These com‐
mands are provided for evaluation purposes only.

DESCRIPTION
The command lists software installed on a system or from a depot. rec‐
       ognizes the following options:

	      Displays the usage message.

	      Displays the available
			     attributes.

	      Displays the list of possible
			     (extended) options.

	      Launches interactive user interface.

The verbosity level is decreased by one for each time
is specified. (See also the option).

The verbosity level is increased by one for each time
is specified. (See also the option).

Displays the value of the specified attribute. You may specify
			     multiple options.

Gets software selections from a file.

Lists software down to the specified level. Level can be one of
	      the following:

			     ·	- lists registered depots;

			     ·	- traverses and lists down to the lowest level
				of the software hierarchy;

			     ·	- lists only one level of the software hierar‐
				chy;

			     ·	- an integer that indicates how many levels of
				the software hierarchy to traverse.

Specifies the output mode as one of the following:

Displays output according to the specified
format_string. See Output Format Strings below
			     for syntax.

	      Specifies the source depot.
May be specified multiple times to identify mul‐
tiple sources or may be "/" to list installed
			     software (default).

Sets the extended option to a value. See Extended -x Options
	      definitions below.

	      Gets the extended options from
option_file. (See the file: for a description
and examples of syntax for this file).
The extended options may be specified on the command line using the
option, in a file specified using the option, or in one of the configu‐
ration files: or If the same option is given in multiple locations, the
following order is prioritized from highest to lowest:

	 1. Options specified on the command line
	 2. Options specified within an extended_option_file (-X file)
	 3. Options specified within the $HOME/.swm.conf file
	 4. Options specified within the /etc/opt/swm/swm.conf file

Note: If the same option or extended option is given multiple times
with the same location, the last option takes effect. If the	option
has a single letter equivalent and both are used on the command line,
the single letter option takes effect. If the	single	letter	option
allows a list of arguments, specifying the single letter option multi‐
ple times will append to the list.

       recognizes the following (extended) options:

       Usage: Basic
Defines the format string which will be used for	listing soft‐
ware objects when no -a or -o options are specified on the com‐
mand line. This option is identical to the 'swm list -o <for‐
	      mat-string>' option.

       Usage: Advanced
Defines the network protocol sequence(s) and endpoint(s) that
should be used when accessing remote SD depots. HP-UX supports
both the udp (ncadg_ip_udp:[2121]) and tcp (ncacn_ip_tcp:[2121])
protocol sequenceendpoint. See the sd(5) man page for more info.

       Usage: Advanced
Relative length of the communications timeout. This is a value
in the range from 0 to 9 and is interpreted by the DCE RPC.
Higher values mean longer times; you may need a higher value for
a slow or busy network.	Lower values will give faster recogni‐
tion on attempts to contact hosts that are not up, or are not
running swagentd. Each value is approximately twice as long as
the preceding value. A value of 5 is about 30 seconds for the
ncadg_ip_udp protocol sequence. This option may not have any
noticeable impact when using the ncacn_ip_tcp protocol sequence.

       Usage: Advanced
Defines file location to send selection output to. The default
is to send selection output to stdout for SWM list. In other
swm major-modes, no selection output is	produced unless this
option is set. Setting selection_output to '-' means stdout.

       Usage: Basic
Controls	the display of installed superseded patches. This
option has no effect when listing depots.

SWM will list all installed patches including
		     superseded patches.

SWM will not list superseded patches.

       Usage: Basic
Defines the default software selections.	If there is more than
one software selection listed, they must be separated by spaces.
The selections listed at the end of the command line will over‐
	      write this option.

       Usage: Basic
Defines the default source to use. This option is overriden by
	      -s on the commande line.

       Usage: Basic
Specifies the level of stderr verboseness:

Only ERROR messages and the startingending BANNER messages.

	      Adds WARNING messages.

	      Adds NOTE messages.

Adds INFO messages (informational messages preceded by the '*'
	      character).

	      Adds verbose INFO messages.

	      Adds very-verbose INFO messages.

Note: The '-v' option is equivalent to increasing ver‐
bosity by 1 (e.g., from 3 to 4) and the '-q' option is
equivalent to decreasing verbosity by 1. The '-v' and
'-q' options can be used more than once.
Selects a group of software objects to be used for an operation.

	      software_selections
Selects a group of software objects to be used for an
operation. In addition to the SD syntax, the following
			syntax is supported for

	      Where can be:

		     [,r <op> revision][,a <op> arch][,v <op> vendor]
		     [,c <op> category][,q=qualifier][,l=location]
		     [,fr <op> revision][,fa <op> arch]

	      Where can be:

The = (equals) relational operator lets you specify selections
	      with the shell wildcard and

The option or the -x one_liner extended option can
specify a format_string which may contain any com‐
			    bination of:

				   · plain text - which will be printed as-
				      is.

				   · or - which will print the value of the
				      attribute.

				   · or
				      - which	will print the value of the
				      attribute within the specified field
				      width(s). min-width is a decimal inte‐
ger that specifies that	the attribute
value be padded with spaces to contain
at minimum of min-width characters. If
				      specified, max-width will truncate the
attribute value such that it does not
exceed the specified number of charac‐
ters. The value of min-width cannot be
				      larger than max-width.

Multiple options maybe specified	if the
				   format_string contains a prefix specifying
a software	object	type that the format
applies to.	If no	prefix	is specified,
then the format string applies to all
object types. When multiple prefixes apply
to a specific software object, the most
applicable one will be used. For example,
if format strings for both and are defined,
the format will be used for any collection
objects even though a collection is also
considered an element object type. To
specify a prefix, the format_string should
begin with one of the following strings:

				   · - format string applies to all software
elements	(this is equivalent to not
				      specifying a prefix)

				   · - format string applies to software ele‐
ments that contain files (i.e. SD file‐
				      sets).

				   · - format string applies to any "collec‐
tion" object - which is an object that
contains other elements.	(i.e SD bun‐
				      dles, products and sub-products)

				   · - format string applies only	to the
"root collection" object - there is only
one root collection per source and rep‐
resents the entire contents of the
				      source.

				   For example:
The	above command will list the names and
titles of all non-collection items. Only
the	names of collection items will be
				   listed.

   Return Values
       returns the following values:

	      Success.
	      Error.
	      Warning.
