TTYDESC(1) BSD Reference Manual TTYDESC(1)

NAME
ttydesc - display description of tty from /etc/ttys file

SYNOPSIS
     ttydesc [-r] [-t tty] [field [n]]

DESCRIPTION
The ttydesc program reads the /etc/ttys file (see ttys(5)) looking for
the entry specified by tty or for the current controlling terminal if tty
was not specified. If field is not specified, the entire database entry
constructed for the terminal is displayed (see ttys.conf(5)).

If field is specified, only the value(s) for that field in the database
entry are printed. If n is also specified, which should be a numeric ar-
gument, only the n-th element of field is displayed. The first element
     is element 0 (zero).

     The following options are available:

-r Do not append a trailing newline when the elements are printed.
This is generally only useful when n is also specified, or field
	     only has a single value.

-t Use the entry associated with tty instead of the entry associated
	     with the current controlling terminal.
