Rogue is the namesake of the procedurally-generated dungeon crawling game genre. Later examples of the genre include [[Angband?]] and NetHack?. The original game was programmed around 1980 by Michael Toy, Glenn Wichman, and Ken Arnold for the Unix system at UC Santa Cruz.
