BIND 8-
BIND 8 (8.1.2) is supported in Release 7.1. BIND 8 includes
dynamic DNS and numerous security fixes.
DHCP client-
Allows a system to obtain its other basic TCP/IP configuration
parameters (domain name, IP address, netmask, broadcast address,
and default router) from a DHCP server at boot time.
Updated gated-
The version of gated has been updated from 3.5.7 to 3.5.9.
Version 3.5.9 makes more efficient use of the routing stream to
read the kernel interface list. This release also contains other changes
including a fix for memory leaks in OSFP.
PPP-
A new Incoming Connection Wizard has been added and the
PPP Manager and Outgoing Connection
Wizard have been updated for Release 7.1. Other new
PPP features include callback enabling, Predictor-1
compression, configuration of multilink control
packet encapsulation, and improved debugging support.
TCP/IP performance and scalability-
There have been many enhancements to the performance and scalability of
TCP/IP including hashed PCB cache, a new minor number
allocation scheme, configurable port ranges, and large window scaling
(RFC 1323).
