Managing folders cached in memory
Caching folders in memory is recommended to improve performance.
However, it uses a lot of memory and is recommended only for single-user
machines. You can use long or short caching, meaning
that the in-core cache contains either simple header information or
advanced header information; and the message structure is all kept
in core memory.
NOTE:
The message body content is not stored in core in any case. This
option merely enables an extended header and structure cache mechanism.
To enable caching:
-
Double click on the ``Folder Cached in Memory'' entry to produce
a pop-up ``Modify Folder Cached in Memory'' screen.
-
Click on the ''Folder Cached in Memory'' button to enable caching
in memory.
-
Click on OK to return to the main screen.
