Adding an alias to the alias file
To add an alias to the alias file, follow these steps:
-
Within the ``Alias File'' screen, select the
Aliases
Add
menu option.
This produces the ``Add Alias'' screen.
-
Within the
``Add Alias'' screen, type the name of the alias you wish to create
in the top data entry field.
Alias names cannot contain spaces
(`` ''), colons (:) or comma (,) characters.
-
Within the members section,
type the name or names to be added (separated by spaces, if necessary) in the
``Enter names'' field.
-
Click on the Add Name(s) button to
enter the name or names into the member names list.
-
The Select name
button in the members section produces a ``Select Users'' screen, which contains
a list of all users on the machine. The alias must have both a name and at least
one member. Note that an alias must not have the same name as an entry already
in the table.
-
Select a user, and click on OK.
Control is returned to the
``Add Alias'' screen.
The Remove button removes a highlighted
member from the member names list. The Edit button removes
the highlighted member in the member names list and puts it back in
the ``Enter names'' field. There is also a standard search facility.
