The Virtual Domain User Manager

Adding an alias to the alias file

To add an alias to the alias file, follow these steps:

  1. Within the ``Alias File'' screen, select the Aliases -> Add menu option.

This produces the ``Add Alias'' screen.

  2. Within the ``Add Alias'' screen, type the name of the alias you wish to create in the top data entry field.

Alias names cannot contain spaces (`` ''), colons (:) or comma (,) characters.

  3. Within the members section, type the name or names to be added (separated by spaces, if necessary) in the ``Enter names'' field.

  4. Click on the Add Name(s) button to enter the name or names into the member names list.

  5. The Select name button in the members section produces a ``Select Users'' screen, which contains a list of all users on the machine. The alias must have both a name and at least one member. Note that an alias must not have the same name as an entry already in the table.

  6. Select a user, and click on OK.
Control is returned to the ``Add Alias'' screen.

The Remove button removes a highlighted member from the member names list. The Edit button removes the highlighted member in the member names list and puts it back in the ``Enter names'' field. There is also a standard search facility.
