polarhome NEWS
2014.07.18 polarhome suffered a major power cut while no admins were on site. Two days after the blackout most polarhome servers are online again.
2014.06.26 polarhome changed IP address during the night. For some reason the DNS records have not been updated automatically, therefore polarhome.com was "invisible" for some time.
2014.06.25 compilers on HP-UX are updated. Server hpux got a 64-bit gcc. Also on freebsd, redhat, centos, debian and ubuntu the go language compiler is installed.
2014.06.18 polarhome itanium servers (OpenVMS/IA64 and HP-UX/IA64) are online again. It is too warm in the server room for this architecture during the short but warm Swedish summer.
2014.05.29 polarhome servers might be down from time to time during the next few days. Moving over the servers to a new rack with better ventilation. This needs to be done before the real summer arrives to Sweden. The downtime will be used also to upgrade some of the servers with extra CPU, disk or RAM.

Since year 2000, polarhome.com became a demo site for Linux power and other Unix like systems popularization; unique multi-platform open source development realm and symbol for online freedom, feelings and other activities.

Note: this site is continously under construction and running on slow lines and low capacity servers that have been retired, therefore as a non commercial site user/visitor, nobody should have too high expectations in any meaning of the word.
Even if polarhome.com does all to provide services on professional level, users should not expect more than "AS-IS".

polarhome.com is a distibuted site, but more than 90% of polarhome realm is located in Stockholm, Sweden.
