HALT(8) HALT(8)

NAME
       halt - stop the processor

SYNOPSIS
       /usr/etc/halt [ -e ] [ -n ] [ -p ] [ -q ] [ -y ]

DESCRIPTION
Halt flushes internal	caches, ensures that all remaining disk writes
have been completed, and then stops the processor. The machine doesn't
       reboot.

The -e	option causes the optical drive to eject any disk contained in
it. The -n option prevents the sync before stopping. The -p	option
causes the machine to be powered down after shutdown. -q option causes
a quick halt, no graceful shutdown is attempted. The	-y option is
needed if you are trying to halt the system from a dialup.

Halt normally logs the shutdown using syslog(8) and places a shutdown
record in the login accounting file /usr/adm/wtmp. These actions are
inhibited if the -n or -q options are present.
