ORACLEASM-DROPDISKS(8) Oracle ASM Support Manual ORACLEASM-DROPDISKS(8)NAMEoracleasm-dropdisks - Drop disks from the ASM Library.
SYNOPSIS
oracleasm dropdisks [-l <manager>] [-v] [-a] [<label> ...]
oracleasm dropdisks -h
oracleasm dropdisks -V
DESCRIPTION
The dropdisks command drops disks from the view of the Oracle ASM
Library. By default, it cleans stale disks - disks that are no longer
marked for ASM use. The -a option forces dropdisks to drop all disks.
Dropping a disk does not modify it in any way. It is just removed from
the view of the ASM Library. This is the converse to oracleasm-
scandisks(8), and disks that are still marked can be re-added via the
oracleasm-scandisks(8) command. For example, all disks are dropped when
the Oracle ASM Library driver is shutting down.
OPTIONS
-l|--manager <manager>
Specifies the manager device used to connect to the ASMLib driver.
Almost always unnecessary, as only one manager device is in use.
-a|--all
Drop all disks, not just the stale disks.
-v|--verbose
Verbose operation. This will print any debugging information.
<label>
The LABEL of one or more disks to check. If no LABELs are
specified, all ASM disks will be checked. If the disks specified
are still valid ASM disks, they will only be dropped when the -a
option is specified.
-h|--help
Display usage information.
-V|--version
Display version information.
EXAMPLES
oracleasm dropdisks
Check all ASM disks and drop those that are stale (are no longer
marked for ASM).
oracleasm dropdisks -a
Drop all disks from the Oracle ASM Library. Usually done before
calling oracleasm-exit(8).
oracleasm dropdisks VOL1
Check the disk labeled VOL1 and drop it if it is stale.
